“Mom and dad are so much happier now that our new caregiver takes them outside and lets them really enjoy life. It’s really lifted a weight off our shoulders. Thank you Qualicare!”

Personal Care at Home Without Taking Over

Support offered with you, not done to you

Accepting help with bathing, dressing or using the bathroom can feel deeply personal. Our care professionals approach these moments with discretion, patience and respect. The goal is to make the day safer and easier while preserving as much choice and ability as possible.

Personal care is available for people of all ages, including people with disabilities and those recovering after surgery or illness. Support can be temporary or ongoing, and it can begin with the parts of the day that matter most.

The Right Amount of Help

People often do better when support is offered with them rather than done to them. A care professional may stand nearby while someone completes part of a shower, lay out clothes rather than choose them, or prepare ingredients so the client can continue cooking. Those choices preserve confidence and function.

The plan can change. Someone recovering from a joint replacement may need more help for several weeks and then scale back. A person with a progressive condition may need support added gradually. There is no advantage in providing more help than the person needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is personal care only for seniors?

No. We support people of all ages who need help because of disability, injury, illness, surgery or age related changes.

Can your team administer medication?

Qualicare Home Care Greater Austin provides nonmedical Personal Assistance Services. Care professionals may give reminders and provide permitted assistance with self administered medication under the service plan. They do not provide skilled medication administration.

Can care start with only a few needs?

Yes. Many plans begin with the most difficult part of the day, such as morning personal care, meals or evening routines, then adjust after the person and family see what helps.

See how the 360° Approach works for Bernadette

Bernadette came to Qualicare worried that her loss of mobility would keep her from the activities and people she loves. So we designed a 360° Care Plan to help Bernadette keep her independence. Thanks to Qualicare, Berna’s still playing at her local lawn bowling club, and she never misses her granddaughter’s dance recitals.
