GUIDE Respite for Eligible Dementia Families
The Medicare GUIDE model may authorize respite services for eligible people living with dementia. Qualicare Home Care works with participating GUIDE organizations serving the Austin area. When GUIDE respite is authorized, the participating organization pays Qualicare Home Care and the eligible family is not charged for that authorized service.

Do I have to be at a breaking point to use respite?
No. Regular respite works best before exhaustion becomes a crisis. Even a predictable block of time each week can protect the family caregiver’s health and make care at home more sustainable.
Can respite be occasional rather than weekly?
Yes. Availability and minimum visit requirements apply, but respite can be designed around a regular schedule, appointments, travel or a specific period of increased need.
How do we help someone with dementia accept a new person?
