History

Consisting of three sites, the Humber Regional Hospital network was founded in 1997. More recently, Humber River’s redevelopment plan, which was approved by the government of Ontario, broke ground on their new $1.75 billion facility close to the Keele Street and Highway 401 intersection in December of 2011. This new facility will be Ontario’s, and North America’s, first fully digital hospital, which is set to open in 2015. The Humber River Hospital Network plans to showcase the new location as an environmental and technological example of cutting edge hospitals in Toronto, Canada, and the world.

The Keele/Highway 401 site will be affiliated with the medical school at Queen’s University.
