It’s Time for Women to Take Action for Their Health!
It is very common for women to take on multiple roles in their lifetime:
- Housekeeper
- Caregiver
- Chauffeur
- Provider
As a result, they can find it difficult to find time for themselves, especially when it comes to their health. However, our in-home care providers at Qualicare want to share some tips on how you can prioritize yourself—and your health—moving forward.
Take Better Care of Yourself
You have probably heard the phrase, *you cannot pour from an empty cup*—and it is true! In order to care for others, you have to first take care of yourself.
Start here:
Be Proactive With Your Health
Were you diagnosed with diabetes, osteoporosis or another health condition? It is vital to make sure you are following best practices when it comes to your health condition so that you can either manage or improve your condition.
For instance, diabetes can lead to heart disease if your blood sugar levels are not properly managed. Make sure you are eating a healthy, diabetic-friendly diet while also maintaining a healthy weight to keep your diabetes in check and reduce your risk of heart disease in the future.
Regular checkups are a key part of this step—so ensure you’re seeing your doctor regularly, particularly if you’re managing a chronic health condition.
Get Enough Sleep
Because women tend to have so many tasks on their to-do list, they tend to try and fit more hours in the day. As a result, their sleep tends to fall by the wayside. But when you are not getting enough sleep, not only are you setting yourself up for a bad mood, but you are also increasing your risk of heart disease, diabetes and obesity, among other conditions.
Therefore, it is time to start making sleep a priority. Try being consistent with your bedtime/wake-up schedule while avoiding caffeine and exercise at least a few hours before bed.
Make Time for You
It can be hard for women to take a break from their daily to-do list to take time for themselves, but it is extremely important that you have some time for rest and relaxation.
Is there something you have always wanted to learn, such as playing guitar or making a quilt? Or do you enjoy sitting with a good book or getting a massage or manicure/pedicure?
It is important to take time to participate in the things you enjoy in life so that you are able to recharge your batteries and be more productive day after day!
