Who Qualifies for Aid & Attendance?
Eligibility for the Aid & Attendance Pension Benefit is based in part on when a veteran served. To qualify, the veteran must have served during an approved wartime period as defined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Below are the official service dates that meet this requirement.
- World War II: Dec 7, 1941 – Dec 31, 1946
- Korean Conflict: June 27, 1950 – Jan 31, 1955
- Vietnam Era: Aug 5, 1964 – May 7, 1975 
 (Veterans who served in Vietnam between Nov 1, 1955 – Aug 4, 1964 may also qualify)
- Gulf War: Aug 2, 1990 – present (date to be determined by law)
- American Merchant Marines in WWII: Dec 7, 1941 – Aug 15, 1945
