Mario Thomas
I am a versatile senior executive with extensive international experience in the knowledge-based industry, including healthcare and environmental preservation. With over 30 years in leadership roles guiding purpose-driven teams and corporate growth, I consistently deliver significant value to all stakeholders.
My business operations span across the globe, working in a wide range of settings and cultures. I am recognized as a problem solver for complex business challenges, backed by my wealth of experience in managing diverse transactions. My inclusive servant leadership style unites people, encourages teamwork, and utilizes all resources to add focus and precision to each project.
I founded Precision Biomonitoring Inc. in 2017, serving as President and Board Chair before selling the company two years ago. Prior to founding Precision Biomonitoring, I was the CEO of the Biodiversity Institute of Ontario at the University of Guelph, a global leader in biodiversity genomics. I also served as Senior Vice President of Ontario Centres of Excellence from 2009 to 2013. I have co-founded and led several biotech startups, including Proteocyte AI, T2C2 Ventures, Entomed, and Terragen Discovery, and held senior executive roles in the pharma industry, including at Biochem Pharma, Burroughs Wellcome, and Johnson & Johnson.
I hold a Ph.D. and a B.Sc. in chemistry from Université Laval in Quebec City, a diploma in business administration from École des Hautes Études Commerciales at Université de Montréal, and I am also a Chartered Board Director.
