History<\/h3>\n

In 1913, four immigrant women from Toronto started fundraising for the creation of a new hospital. After 9 years of hard work, Mrs. Cohn, Spiegel, Adler and Miller had raised $12,000, which was enough to buy a building at 100 Yorkville street in 1922. The following year the doors opened and The Hebrew Maternity and Convalescent Hospital started accepting patients.<\/p>\n

Since those modest beginnings, much about the hospital has changed. Most notably, the name was changed to Mount Sinai Hospital Toronto and the location has changed multiple times. The facility grew from 30 beds to 472 during its transformation. The Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute was established in 1985, and was renamed the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute in June, 2013. Since the development of the research facility, Mount Sinai Hospital Toronto has became one of North America’s most successful medical, research and teaching institutions.<\/p>\n
