Rishi & Shona Mehta

My name is Shona Mehta and I am the president of Qualicare SF East Bay. The reason I got into working with seniors in the home care space is mainly because of my dad. I get a little teary eyed here. He suffered two brain hemorrhages. He got dizzy, he fell, hit his head on the counter and was in the ICU during COVID. My siblings and I had to be those caregivers. We had to come in and drive six hours because we’re in the Bay, and he’s in Southern Cal. We had to take care of him and rehabilitate him. There were times we couldn’t be there, so we had to look for agencies to step in.

It was during that time that I realized I wasn’t really happy with what I was seeing. I felt like we could do this better. That’s how I got into it. I treat every client like they’re my parents. This business is very personal to me. It’s very dear to me. And honestly, it feels good to help people.
